Your Liquid Neck Lift: Will Dermal Fillers & Botox Do It?

“Turkey Neck” or lax, wrinkled skin below our chins can make us look older than we are or want to appear. Most of us take great care to ensure the skin on our face remains youthful and taut. But what about the neck and the décolletage? Do we take the time to care for this part of our appearance as we age? Powerful non-surgical solutions exist to help us with these concerns.

Midface Volume Loss

As with a surgical facelift, the tightening of the midface will lift the neck as well. Products like Juvederm and Restylane can lift the cheek area by restoring facial volume. With age this area may lose fat pads that will cause skin to sag. A non-surgical lift here will restore lost volume while subtly lifting loose skin to deliver a more defined jawline.

Where dermal fillers fill, cosmetic neuromodulators tighten. Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin can tighten muscles along the jawline, pulling neck skin tighter. Botox injected into the two strips of muscles that run from the base of your neck to the jaw (platysmal bands) also results in tighter skin over these muscles.

Horizontal Neck Lines

Although we seem to focus on our forehead lines and crow’s feet to improve facial beauty, those pesky necklines can cause us some alarm as well. Many of our patients come to us looking for a non-surgical solution to regain a sleek and smooth neck. This telltale sign of aging begins to form as the skin starts to lose elasticity and structure with the loss of collagen regeneration.

Although we think of dermal fillers as a solution to facial wrinkles and fine lines, there is now a product that addresses neck creases too. Belotero is an advanced dermal filler that is unique, delivering seamless integration that adds volume to eliminate necklines and creases. It is made with the same volume enhancements and moisturizing component that spreads evenly in the neck fold, to deliver a non-surgical Necklift.

When wrinkles results from lax skin, dermal fillers work well to fill them. When muscles beneath the skin keep flexing causing the skin above them to crease, those muscles must be tamed. Once again, cosmetic neuromodulators like Botox and Dysport still muscles so that the skin is not repeatedly creased. With less flexing, those wrinkles diminish.
